Air conditioning, done properly

London Air Conditioning Fitters provides air conditioning installation, repairs, servicing and maintenance across Greater London. We work in flats, houses, offices, shops and hospitality venues, fitting systems that cool efficiently in summer and, in most cases, heat just as efficiently in winter.

London is a demanding place to install air conditioning. Leases restrict what can go on external walls, conservation areas and listed buildings bring planning considerations, outside space is limited and neighbours are close. Good results come from planning around those realities rather than discovering them on installation day.

That is why every project starts with understanding the space: how warm it gets, how it is used, where an outdoor unit could sensibly go and how pipework and drainage can be routed neatly. From there we recommend a system, explain why, and set it out in a written quotation.

The Principles Behind Every Installation

Plain-English advice

We explain the options (single split, multi-split, cassette or ducted) and the trade-offs, so you can make an informed choice.

Right-sized systems

Oversized units cycle on and off and undersized ones struggle. We size equipment to your rooms and heat gains.

Written quotations

You’ll know what equipment is proposed, what work is included and what you may need to arrange, such as landlord consent.

Respect for your property

Dust sheets, careful drilling, tidy pipe runs and a clean finish, in a family home or a working office alike.

Considerate placement

We think about noise, neighbours and appearance when positioning outdoor units, not just the shortest pipe route.

Ongoing care

Servicing and maintenance help protect efficiency and reliability, and we’re here when something needs attention.

What Happens at a Survey, and Why We Insist on One

Most of the decisions that make an air conditioning system work well are made before any equipment is ordered. A survey is where we turn “I want this room cooler” into a specification you can rely on.

Measuring the space and its heat gains

We look at room dimensions, glazing and orientation, insulation, the number of people who use the space and any equipment giving off heat, such as computers, AV, kitchen appliances or servers. Those factors set the cooling and heating capacity, which is why two rooms of the same size can need different units.

Questions we will ask you

When is the room used most? Is it already too warm in spring? Do you want heating as well as cooling? Are there quiet hours, such as bedrooms or meeting rooms?

Finding positions that work for everyone

Next comes the indoor unit position, the outdoor unit position and the route between them. We balance airflow and appearance inside with access, noise, drainage and consent outside. We also tell you if the preferred position is likely to cause problems with a freeholder, landlord or planning authority.

Drainage and power

Condensate must drain reliably, by gravity where possible or with a pump. We also check where a dedicated electrical supply and isolator can be provided.

Turning the survey into a written quotation

Your quotation sets out the recommended equipment, the installation work, what making-good is included and anything you may need to arrange, such as freeholder consent or parking. If there are sensible alternatives, like a multi-split instead of two singles or a floor console instead of a wall unit, we explain the trade-offs.

Looking After Your System After Installation

Air conditioning is a long-term piece of equipment. A little care keeps it efficient, quiet and reliable for years, and we can help with as much or as little of that as you need.

Simple tasks you can do yourself

Cleaning or vacuuming the indoor unit filters every few weeks during heavy use, keeping the outdoor unit clear of leaves and plants, and using sensible set-points are the easiest ways to protect performance. We show you how at handover.

  • Rinse washable filters and let them dry fully
  • Keep at least the manufacturer’s recommended clearance around the outdoor unit
  • Avoid very low cooling set-points; a few degrees below outside is usually enough

Professional servicing and repairs

An engineer’s service goes further: coil cleaning, drain-line checks, electrical tests and refrigerant pressure readings. If something does go wrong, a repair visit diagnoses the fault properly rather than guessing. See our servicing and repairs pages for what is involved.
